Pixel Press is a publishing platform for independent journalists and newsletters. We designed the entire product — reader-facing content experience, creator dashboard, and monetisation flows — with a focus on legibility, focus, and creator control.
The story
What we set out to do.
Challenge
Independent publishers are underserved by existing CMS tools — they're either over-engineered (WordPress) or under-featured (Substack). Pixel Press needed to feel powerful for creators but invisible to readers, with monetisation baked in natively rather than bolted on.
Solution
The reader experience is deliberately minimal — typography-first, with a reading mode that eliminates all chrome. The creator dashboard surfaces only what's needed for the current task. We designed a modular monetisation system that works for everything from one-off articles to tiered subscriptions.
Result
Pixel Press closed its seed round two weeks after launch, partially citing the product design as a key differentiator. 200 creator waitlist spots filled in 24 hours.
The Figma file was so clean our engineers said it was the best handoff they'd ever received. The product shipped faster because of the quality of the design work.
